I swear here we go again with another Kennedy's location serving up the best quality meats! Living in San Diego- we go outta our way to buy carne by the pound in Escondido.
Our when we're in Imperial Valley- we go to Heber. This time we were passing along the 8 Freeway- and Cracker Barrel isn't all that to me.... Kennedy's is what I save room in my belly for!!

    This location isn't a Carneceria/ Butcher Shop.

Hot foods (and Thrifty Ice Cream) are served here! Wether you're traveling east or west bound from I-8, just take the Imperial Ave exit.

I enjoyed the arrachera (skirt steak) and also the barbacoa (beef). Man!! The skirt steak is thicker than traditional carne asada. And the barbacoa was tender- while sitting in it's delicious thick broth....

When ordering the plates- the rice here is just perfect. There are options of beans- black beans, refried beans, AND chorizo beans!

Yup! Your girl ALWAYS gets the chorizo beans.
Service here is friendly. Plenty of booths, four tops, & some bar tables/ stools lined up along the wall.

Bottled beer is served, bottled waters/ teas, and there's a soda fountain.

    One gender neutral bathroom.

It's alright. I tried their deep fried quesadilla, but only wish it had guac. I'll give it another rush next time I'm in town. Girl up front taking orders great and little hottie. Just needed guacamole. In San Diego meat, cheese and guac non of that rice and beans.

Overall: Kennedy's Taco serves decent food, but it's way overpriced.

    Food: 2.5

Special Quesadilla: I heard that the area was known for this "special" quesadilla so I had to try it. It's essentially a deep fried quesadilla shaped like an empanada. A fried quesadilla is never bad, but I think it was overpriced at $5 for a hand sized pastry only filled with cheese.

Machaca Taco Plate: A plate has two shredded beef tacos, rice, and beans. The shredded beef was decent, but (again) it was overpriced. For $7, I expect better quality tacos. The rice was a tad too dry and clumpy, and the tortilla was mediocre. Plus, the menu's pricing is misleading. It lists the price of individual tacos ($3) and notes that you can make it a plate with rice and beans for an additional $1. One would assume that it would cost $4 then, but it's actually $7 because a plate has two tacos.

NOTE: I do appreciate that their many garnishments come at no additional costs, and you can pick as many as you want, including the guacamole. It seems slightly watered down, but it's free so no one's complaining.

    Service: 3

This is a casual quick service restaurant where you order at the counter and pay. Food is handed to you once it is ready. The woman who helped us with our order was nice, but she could work on her communication skills to better take orders. Furthermore, we asked for water, and she initially only provided one cup for a table of 3.

    Ambiance: 4

There's plenty of seating in the restaurant. It's fairly clean and cool (which is important since it's hot as hell in El Centro). There's a couple of tv's so you can watch something as you eat.

Place went downhill,,,to bad for owners who hire people with zero customer service skills. When you have to ring a bell and wait 2 to 3 minutes for an employee to come out holding her cell phone I'm heading next door to Del Taco !
